Zermatt is a beautiful and diverse part of Switzerland and a fantastic place to explore. The vibrant rolling green meadows are interspersed with spectacular Alpine mountains and swathes of lush forest. Hikers can easily access a variety of trails through enchanting landscapes, with sedate paths through the beautiful meadows, energetic hikes up to some of the lower mountain peaks or more challenging ascents up steep arêtes. Walkers find themselves amid exceptional panoramas of the Western Swiss Alps. Zermatt boasts fantastic mountain restaurants for lunch, isolated lakes where you can sunbathe, read, picnic and swim. A walk through the Gorner Gorge and Alpine flower park is a must. There is also tennis, golf, pony trekking and biking all under the watchful eye of the majestic Matterhorn.
For the more adventurous there is summer skiing, mountain biking, monster downhill scooters, the tree top fun park with zip lines and rope bridges and also the possibility of climbing the Matterhorn.
Zermatt is popular for mountain biking with several world-class downhill routes and many cross-country trails. It is also a great parapente destination with spectacular scenery, fantastic thermals and easily accessible take-off points.
For an adrenaline fueled start to the day you can also climb the Breithorn just after sunrise and take an exhilarating descent by parapente back into Zermatt village, a truly spectacular flight.
